Your Medicare reimbursement is directly linked to successful acceptance by the state
of timely, accurate, and error-free MDS submission files. ADL’s MDS
module creates and prepares MDS assessments for submission
in accordance with state and federal requirements. Automatic error-checking
features encourage correction of each item before submission.
Validation status is clearly indicated on each assessment — simply
click a button to view the appropriate validation report and reasons for rejection.
The system generates a wide variety of reports (including several Quality
Assurance reports) and RAP worksheets.
Federal Surveys
Current, accurate CMS Surveys 802 and 672 are immediately
available at the touch of a button for print or display.
Scheduling
Using previous MDS Assessments as a guide, MDS Scheduling and OBRA Scheduling
functions display and print all residents in the unit, floor, or facility,
in chronological order of the date that the next assessment is due. Grace
periods are also provided for each assessment.
CNA Lookup Feature
With our CNA Assignment module, CNAs enter resident ADLs and other
information on portable, wireless touch screens, at the point
of care. This information then automatically appears in a Section G of
the MDS, so that the nurse entering the MDS has an accurate, complete
record of each resident's ADL activity and scores for the last7, 14, or
30 days, right at her fingertips!
Online Help
Several online help functions are accessible from the system.
- To help clients who may not be familiar with the MDS, ADL incorporated the
full text of the MDS RAI onto a movable Help window, located at the top or bottom
of the MDS Entry screen. This field-level help system displays the full text of the
questions and values as the user moves from field to field.
- The complete, current and amended RAI Manual is available at a touch
from the user, and is dynamically linked to each field--click the entry
field for Section G, for instance, and the Section RAI Manual appears.
- Significant fields are marked as to which RAPs they affect.
- ADL's exhaustive User Help system provides detailed, step-by-step
instructions for MDS data entry and related tasks.
RAPs, RUGs, CMI, CPS, and ADL Scores
Once an MDS is entered, the resident's RUGs, CMI, CPS, and ADL scores
are automatically calculated and displayed onscreen. Completed RAP Worksheets
can be printed. Information in the Worksheets can then be pulled into
the Care Plan module to create Care Plans based on triggered RAPs.
Care Plan Interface
Several other options automatically create Care Plans, including auto-generation
from the data in the associated MDS. The Standard Problem Library contains
problem sets that are mapped to RAPs and MDS questions.
Review History
Each MDS for each resident is stored separately, creating a historical
database that can produce longitudinal reports,
marking trends in residents' progress. The MDS module allows facilities
to decide whether to bring information from a resident’s prior MDS
into the current assessment; if the option is selected, users can see the
answers entered in the last completed MDS, while working on the current
one. Additionally, MDS records are sorted by date of admission for each resident,
making it easy to track developments in the resident's condition as he
or she returns in and out of the facility.
Error Checking
Online Error Checking gathers information as it is entered is being entered and
and checks for consistency against other answers in the current MDS. Logical
errors are caught "on the fly", and warnings and alerts are displayed.
Double-clicking an error message immediately returns the user to the problem
data entry field for correction.
Overview Functions
Use the Overview functions to view all the residents by nursing unit
with their status and MDS scores. At a glance you can determine
which MDS need to be reviewed, corrected or completed. Overview functions
give management a view of the status and MDS scores for all
residents on the unit, floor, or facility. At a glance, a coordinator
can determine
which MDS need review, correction or are complete.
LTCQ Interface
LTCQ analyzes each MDS Assessment, and offers possibilities for increasing
the RUGs score. ADL's optional LTCQ Interface feature submits the MDS
to LTCQ for extensive error and compliance checking. Once the error
checking is complete the results are displayed in a browser window for
review. Save the evaluation for future reference.
Quality Indicators
MDS Q/I information is automatically calculated. Reports include Discharge
Potential, Pain Information, Weight Change, Needs Change,
Restraints, Falls, Feeding Tubes, Visual Function, Behavior Problems,
Psychotropic Drugs, Bowel & Bladder Incontinence, Infection, Delirium,
Oral/Dental, RAP Triggers, Dietary, and Parenteral/Enteral.
